Cox Peninsula awarded National Award for Excellence

LGANT President, Alderman Kerry Moir today joined the Federal Minister for Local Government the Hon. Anthony Albanese in congratulating the Cox Peninsula Council for receiving a National Award for Excellence (for a small council with fewer than 15,000 ratepayers).
“This is a major achievement for the Cox Peninsula Council”, said Alderman Moir.
“There were over 280 entries from around Australia and CoxPeninsula is one of only six councils to receive a national award”.
“Cox Peninsula Council received it’s award for the Wagait Beach Community Centre that provides primary health care, space for volunteer groups and even a cyclone shelter”, Alderman Moir said.
Alderman Moir encouraged all Northern Territory councils to enter the 2008 Awards which are open for submissions on 28 April and close on 6 June 2008.
