Australian Local Govenment Association

The Association's policies are determined under the direction of it's Board, made up of representatives from each of the member associations. In so doing, it is assisted by the state and territory associations and is influenced by the General Assembly process and outcomes.

Australian Local Government Women's Association (ALGWA)

The Australian Local Government Women's Association (ALGWA) is the peak body representing the interests of women in local government – either as officers or elected members.

The ALGWA was formed in 1951 and is a not for profit, non party political organisation open to individual membership which strives to assist in furthering women's knowledge, understanding, and participation in the function of local government.

Local Government Association of NSW and Shires Association of NSW

The Associations represent the views of NSW metropolitan, regional and rural councils to other governments, provide industrial relations and other specialist services to councils and promote Local Government to the community.

Local Government Association of Queensland

The Local Government Association of Queensland Inc. formed back in 1896 to give Local Government a united voice. The Association is the peak body representing Local Government in its dealings with other Governments, unions, business and the community.

Local Government Association of South Australia

Established in 1968 in its current form, the Local Government Association is recognised as the peak representative body for local government in South Australia. Although membership of the Association is voluntary, every Council in the State, along with the Anungu Pitjantjatjara have become members.

Local Government Association of Tasmania

The Local Government Association of Tasmania is the peak body representing local government - or councils - in Tasmania.

Municipal Association of Victoria

The Municipal Association of Victoria is the peak representative and lobbying body for Victoria's 79 councils.

The MAV was formed in 1879 and the Municipal Association Act 1907 anointed the MAV the official voice of local government in Victoria.

Northern Territory Area Consultative Committee Inc.

NTACCs are non-profit, independent, community-based organisations funded by the Commonwealth Government Department of Transport and Regional Services under the Regional Partnerships programme.

There are 56 ACCs across Australia which form a regional network. They each act as a catalyst and coordination point, working in partnership with governments, business and communities to foster opportunities for regional development with local community participation.

Western Australian Local Government Association

The WA Local Government Association was launched on December 6, 2001, as the new voice of Local Government in Western Australia.

The new Association is a united, dynamic, single organisation and replaces the WA Municipal Association, the Country Shire Council's Association, the Country Urban Council's Association and the Local Government Association (metropolitan councils).
